39 weeks

39 weeks today, can you believe it? I am amazed at how quickly these nine months have flown. I am so acutely aware that in no time flat (any day now, really), my whole life will revolve around a new little being. This week, I'm seriously slowing down — taking advantage of the opportunity for rest and relaxation. Yesterday arvo I had a two hour nap and a luxurious 40 minute soak in the tub. Not the 'book and beer' bath of yesteryear, unfortunately, more the 'diced peaches fruit cup and glass of water' variety. I was very well entertained, mind you — I piled fluffy bubbles on my enormous belly and christened it 'marshmallow mountain'.

I took this photo last week when I was playing around with the self-timer setting on my new camera. It's really very difficult to take photos of oneself! Focus is an issue, and of course the blind cords look very profesh. It was an interesting experiment nonetheless and I'm glad I've at least got a pic of the baby belly! Not sure it does it justice though — it feels a lot bigger than it looks…

Beautiful Lauren, and very classy indeed - lucky you didn't trip on a cord on the way through, pic might have ended up something entirely different....must tell you sometime about the pic with brother Ron and wife Jean on a day trip to the snow...enjoy the days left of your independence and ponder upon all the joyous moments that will be yours and Dean's when 'George' enters your lives... good luck and much love....Ingy and Doug

Haha, now that would have been a sight! Looking forward to seeing all the fam — and especially can't wait to see Eli's grinnin' chops when she's here in a few weeks time!! Big love and hugs, xo

Wowsers, I forgot how close together our due dates were - I'm 38 weeks. You look amazing - clearly you aren't channelling a puffer fish like I am. How are you feeling? I'm still very much "not yet baby" which I hope changes over the next 14 days! Can't wait to see pics of wee George : )

Haha, thanks Claire — I have been very lucky in regards to the delight which is fluid retention — my sister had a shocking case of it, I was sure I was going to follow in her (swollen) footsteps. ;) I'm feeling pretty darn good, actually. Still running about like a headless chook, buying (non-essential) this and that, but getting loads of rest too. Finding it hard to believe that this very easily maintained bump is going to be one very demanding babe all too soon! Looking forward to hearing your news too, will keep an eye on your blog!

What a nice blog, saw it as Boondie baby shared on Facebook, but just had to comment that I ate tubs of dived peaches every day when pregnant with my now 8 month old baby girl! Haven't had one since! Good luck :-)
