I dropped my car off at the mechanics for a service last week. As I was walking to Auburn station, searching for my train ticket with my head buried in my bag, the top of my left foot struck a traffic sign post that had been sawn off 20cm from the concrete in which it was set. (Luckily, I didn't hit it with my toe, otherwise I would have gone A-over-T, infinitely worse). Needless to say, this hurt like hell, and I limped the remaining 50m to the train platform.
I remember what it was like in karate training to have a kick blocked by the pointy part of my opponent’s elbow — very similar ouch-i-ness. I must say I was incredibly disappointed with the depth of colour of the bruise that developed. I didn’t think it was fitting given how much it hurt. Besides, it’s really difficult to garner sympathy with a pathetic bruise.
On a brighter note, I ducked out to JB at lunch (still limping slightly) and picked up some hip hop gems, to round out my collection. I had a couple tracks from these guys, but am chuffed to now have the whole albums. It makes me chuckle that JB title their Aussie hip hop section ‘skip hop’, tee hee. I wanted to share Urthboy's 'Wrong One' with you, but it ain't on You Tube. So, The Signal it is!
