So you know about my Instagram obsession, yes? And how the app has some groovy filters to apply to your photos, yes? Well, a warm vintage filter is really trendy these days, and I was hoping to apply something similar to my high resolution images in Photoshop. I found some actions online, but they weren't quite what I was looking for. So, I made my own. And you can download it for free below. Do you have Photoshop? Have you used actions before? Unlike the other actions on the 'net, mine uses adjustment layers and doesn't flatten the image at the end, so you can go back and tweak if you need to. After all, images can have different white balances and levels of light, and may need slightly different adjustments. All you need is a flattened image to begin with (the layer should be named 'Background'), and follow these steps:
1. download the zip file below
2. unzip
3. open Photoshop, click 'load actions' from the actions palette menu
4. open the 'For the Love of George' folder (if not already open) in the actions palette
5. select the action and click 'play'
6. and ta-dah! magic. Save.
I've included some before and after shots below, so you can see how it transforms an image. I'm hoping to create a few more actions along the way, if I do, I'll let you know!
