spreading the crafty joy

Two projects on the agenda: origami stars, and crochet brooches

I have a great job (mostly — ask me again when I’m stressed and under deadline!). I work in Melbourne for News Magazines, designing across the women’s titles (Country Style, Delicious, Donna Hay, Vogue Australia and Vogue Living, etc.). This week, News Magazines was invited into the offices of Mindshare, an advertising agency situated on St Kilda Road, to give their staff an in-depth view of our magazines. I was asked to participate in the presentation for Notebook Magazine, which has recently launched a wonderful initiative called ‘Craft Room’. Given my love of all things crafty, I jumped at the chance, and hauled my mate Carlz (who works on the men’s titles) along for the ride. Carlz taught me how to crochet, so was more than qualified for the job! And what a teacher she turned out to be. We were both so very impressed with the participation — even the blokes got involved! Here are some pics of Carlz and I spreading the crafty-joy…
